
Vincent Asselin has been a landscape architect for over 40 years. He is a founding member of WAA Inc (Montreal); WAA International Ltd (Shanghai); and WAA Design Sdn Bhd (Kuala Lumpur). He served as an international expert in urban planning and landscaping for the Shanghai Science and Technology Committee, an organizing agency that advises the City of Shanghai on urban planning and sustainable design. Mr. Asselin has been involved for over 40 years with the Association des architectes paysagistes du Québec and the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects (CSLA), both of which he has chaired. He has made significant contributions to the various provincial and national committees and task forces of both associations, and has been a CSLA Fellow since 1993. Mr. Asselin is also a founding member of the Landscape Architecture Canada Foundation. He was vice-president of the LACF for many years and served as president from 2015 to 2022. He represented Canada at the International Federation of Landscape Architects from 2019 to 2025 and has been treasurer of IFLA Americas since 2022. In addition to his professional activities and community contributions, Mr. Asselin has been a guest lecturer and professor at Université de Montréal's School of Urban Planning and Landscape Architecture for over 25 years.
Among his many awards, he received the Silver Magnolia Medal Award for his extraordinary contribution to the city of Shanghai. In June 2012, he was honoured with the prestigious rank of Chevalier de l'Ordre national du Québec, an honour conferred on “exceptional citizens who, through their achievements, values and ideals, have marked the evolution and influence of Quebec”. In December 2024, Vincent received the title of Member of the Order of Canada for his exemplary contribution to landscape architecture in Canada and his international influence, particularly in China and Asia.
Mr. Asselin holds a bachelor's degree in landscape architecture (1978) and a master's degree in applied sciences - landscape architecture (1995) from the Université de Montréal.
