John Quinn started his career education in horticulture and received a diploma from the National Botanic Gardens in Dublin, Ireland as well as a diploma for the Royal Botanic Gardens in Kew, London England. He studied landscape architecture at the University of Guelph and became a member of the OALA and CSLA in 1984. John founded Quinn Design Associates Inc. in 1987.
John has over forty years of experience in the practice of landscape architecture. His extensive portfolio of work includes
open space master planning, commercial office, retail, and residential projects, hospitality development, recreational and institutional projects, and health care facilities. He has worked both in Canada and internationally in China, Egypt, Italy, Jordan, Malta, Oman, Poland, and Russia.
John has been acknowledged for his work through the many urban design awards he has received from the cities of Markham, Mississauga, Oshawa, Ottawa, and Toronto. He also received a national award for design excellence form the CSLA. John participated as a juror for the CSLA Awards in 2009 and 2010. He also participated in OALA sponsored seminars profiling the profession to the students of the Landscape Architecture program at the University of Toronto.
