Ingrid Thiessen, BLA University of Manitoba 1978, MLA University of Manitoba 1983, worked for various private firms including: Vagelatos Assoc. Vancouver 1984-1985, Crosby Hanna in Saskatoon 1985-1995, sole proprietor for 17 years in Regina and Scatliff+Miller+Murray Regina office 2013 to 2021. While in Saskatoon she taught horticulture students “Introduction to Landscape Architecture”.  She was the landscape architect for the first ten-year phase of Innovation Place Regina and during the same period worked for numerous projects for the University of Regina.

As part of a team, she participated in various award-winning projects including Kinsmen Play Village Saskatoon, Innovation Place Bowl Saskatoon, The University of Regina Tree Moving Project and The Wascana Landscape Irrigation and Master Plan. She wrote the first native plant specification for the City of Regina. 
 
Ingrid’s volunteerism included being the chair of the SALA Academic Awards Committee for 25 years. In her final year as chair, along with team members, they raised enough money to double the award. She has also volunteered for many small non-profit community organizations including the Regina Horticultural Society, The Friends of Wascana Marsh, Jane’s Walks, the Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee, her church and is currently a board member of Nature Regina. She has authored articles on native plants. A longtime member of the Native Plant Society of Saskatchewan, she is inspired to include and advocate for native plants in her projects and current volunteer work.
