Cameron De Long

Year of Investiture:

Cameron DeLong, received his Bachelor of Arts from Saint Thomas University in 1999 and Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from the University of Guelph in 2005. He is the Director of the Government of Nunavut’s Climate Change Secretariat. Living and working in the arctic, he has called Iqaluit home since 2007. His education and experience as a Landscape Architect have help him chart a course focused on project delivery and cultivating relationships within his unique northern environment. 

Cameron has spearheaded a diverse array of landscape and special place development initiatives across the territory. Noteworthy projects include the restoration of the Hudson’s Bay Blubber Station, enhancements to the day-use areas, trails and camping sites in Iqaluit Kunnga Territorial Park.  The development of interpretive signage in key locales such as Kimmirut, Cambridge Bay, Naujaat, Rankin Inlet, Kekerten Island, Kugluktuk and Resolute Bay. In his current capacity, he is committed to integrating climate change considerations into government operations and community frameworks across Nunavut’s 25 settlements.  His commitment to these efforts underscores his dedication to the betterment of the territory’s growth and resilience. 

Cameron has been a member of the NuALA since 2011: he has held the roles of treasurer, vice-president and most recently president: he has also served as CSLA component board representative; and as board champion for the Landscape/Paysage editoral board. He is also a member of the CSLA Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
