The CSLA is building a Roster of Climate and Biodiversity Champions—a network of dedicated volunteer members with the passion, expertise, and vision to contribute to initiatives addressing climate change and biodiversity. This initiative aligns with the mission of the newly formalized Committee on Climate and Biodiversity, to drive meaningful change through advocacy, professional development, and innovative practice.
Why Join?
- Collaborate with landscape architects and other professionals on critical climate adaptation, mitigation and biodiversity initiatives.
- Help shape the future of resilient, sustainable, and equitable landscapes in Canada.
- Share your knowledge and skills through meaningful projects and advocacy efforts.
Whether your expertise lies in climate adaptation, biodiversity, nature-based solutions, urban forestry, disaster recovery, or decarbonization strategies, we welcome members from all areas of practice to bring their unique perspectives and skills. Help us demonstrate the leadership of the landscape architecture profession in addressing the most pressing challenges of our time.
What Does It Mean to Be on the Roster?
We value your time and are committed to using it effectively. The Roster of Climate and Biodiversity Champions is designed to minimize unnecessary meetings and maximize impact. As a member of the roster, you’ll be added to an email distribution list to receive requests for volunteer opportunities that align with your expertise and interests. These opportunities might include:
- Participating in a single event or workshop.
- Reviewing a draft paper and providing comments.
- Joining an external committee or task force as a CSLA liaison.
Recent opportunities have included involvement with the Standards Council of Canada, the National Horticultural Invasive Species Workgroup, and the Climate Risk Institute's committee on Professional Competencies.
This flexible approach allows you to engage as much or as little as your availability permits, contributing meaningfully without the burden of unnecessary meetings.
