Community Service Award Nomination Guidelines

Purpose

The CSLA Community Service Awards recognizes individuals, public agencies and community groups who have notable corporate social responsibility program, have contributed to the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects, or to the profession. 

These awards provide an opportunity to develop awareness of others who share the CSLA’s goals and to promote the profession's commitment to environmental sustainability and-or shares the mission of the CSLA which is advancing the art, the science, and the practice of landscape architecture.

Nominations may be for community service centered on activities at the provincial or national level. 

Eligibility

ELIGIBLE CANDIDATES
  • individuals;
  • public agencies; and
  • community groups.
INELIGIBLE CANDIDATES

Current members of the CSLA Board of Directors.

RESTRICTIONS

An individual or organization may receive only one Community Service Award.
Nominees may not self-nominate for this award.

Frequency

A maximum of two Community Service Awards may be awarded annually.

Nomination and Selection 

The CSLA Board of Directors may propose nominees for this award. In addition, nominations may be submitted by:
a CSLA member (all categories);

  • the CSLA Congress Planning Committee;
  • a CSLA Component Association;
  • any related professional organization of the CSLA.

The CSLA Board of Directors will review the nominations and make a recommendation as to which nominees should receive an award. Each nomination is judged by the Board of Directors for the success with which the nomination package demonstrates the candidate’s achievements and contributions. The CSLA Board of Directors retains the right to request additional information as deemed necessary during deliberations.

Thursday, February 1st, 2024 at 4 pm EDT

Announcement and Presentation

The Award recipient is notified by the President and invited to attend the CSLA Annual Congress Awards Gala where the award is to be presented. 

The announcement of the Community Service Award will be made in the CSLA Bulletin, by media release, in LP magazine, and through other CSLA communications methods. By accepting the award, the candidate agrees to allow the CSLA to use their image in the promotion of the Recognition Awards.
