Jeffrey J. Philips received a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree from the University of Oregon in 1971 and was admitted to BCSLA and CSLA membership in 1973. He served for a number of years on the BCSLA Board of Directors, including a highly productive term as its President from 1993-94 and four years as Chair of the Membership Committee. Jeff has worked tirelessly to further the profession, participated in the Initiation of LARE examinations in B.C. and, since 1992, has become the first Canadian Master Grader for CLARB. He has maintained an ongoing presence in the Society as a senior practitioner, who continues to demonstrate that he deeply cares about the profession and about those who enter it.
Jeff joined the firm of Don Vaughan & Associates in 1971 and opened his own landscape architectural office in 1975. Since 1992, his firm is known as Philips Wuori Long Inc. with a professional staff of 12. Jeff quickly established a reputation for excellence and extremely high standards of practice. His work included such significant projects as Coal Harbour Development, projects at Expo 136, Creekside Park - Science World, Stanley Park Redevelopment in Vancouver Eaton Centre at Metrotown Burnaby, Kwantlen College in Richmond. As the senior partner. Jeff brings the reputation of solid professionalism to each endeavour and he has been the recipient of several prestigious design awards, including the recent Waterfront Centre Honor Award for Enatal Waterfront Park in Bellevue, Washington.
