Charlotte Simard

Charlotte Simard holds a bachelor's degree in landscape architecture from Université de Montréal (1991) and a certificate in green space management from Université Laval (2001).  

She began her career in the municipal sector as a project landscape architect, working on park development and helping to establish a differentiated management approach to green space maintenance. In the spring of 2000, she joined the Heritage Customer Services team at Public Services and Procurement Canada as Project Manager. 

Charlotte advocates a practice that involves reconciling diverse issues, particularly in terms of heritage conservation, nature and urban planning. Her work approach favors the harmonization of multidisciplinary practice and the establishment of a collaborative climate conducive to innovation within project teams. Many of her assignments require extensive consultation with a wide range of stakeholders, thus promoting social acceptability within the community.

Over the years, she has contributed to numerous projects, including : the rehabilitation of the Lairet River, at Jacques-Cartier's wintering site in 1535 at Cartier-Brébeuf National Historic Site (NHSC); the development of Obadjiwan-Fort-Témiscamingue NHSC; the urban requalification of the Lachine Canal; the development of the Saguenay-St. Lawrence Marine Park's discovery hubs; the environmental compensation program for the Samuel-de Champlain Bridge; the multifunctional trail commemorating the battle of September 13, 1759 on the Plains of Abraham at the National Battlefields; the development of the public square at the headquarters of the International Civil Aviation Organization; the restoration of Place George-V, reconciling military commemoration with event activities.

She also works with other teams on the integration of green site principles and Aboriginal reconciliation initiatives into various federal real estate projects.

Still with the same department, as Senior Project Manager since 2021, she leads the multidisciplinary team of the Culture and Heritage sector in the Quebec region.
