Ms. Chantal Gagnon graduated from the Université de Montréal with a B.L.A. Degree in 1982 and obtained a M.B.A. Degree from the Université de Sherbrooke in 1997.  Chantal was accepted a member of AAPQ and CSLA in 1984, has been a member and Chair of the CSLA Awards of Excellence Jury in 1993-1994 and served as AAPQ’s President from 1999 to 2002.

As AAPQ President, Chantal reorganized the Association’s administration and implemented a new technology approach that developed the network between members and enhanced the visibility of the profession.   She has been a speaker at numerous congresses in Québec and elsewhere in the world and served on Boards of Directors of many organizations, including Mosaïcultures Internationales de Montreal in 2000-2001. 

Chantal has been a staff member of Montreal’s City Administration since 1990 and is actually Deputy executive director for Quality of life.   After contributing to the implementation of the Nature Parks’ network and to the land use planning of Montreal’s region, she developed and implemented Montreal’s First Strategic Plan for Sustainable Development in collaboration with more than 325 organizations from all sectors.  

As manager of multidisciplinary teams totalising 900 employees and a $500 million annual budget, she is responsible for developing the network for nature parks, deploying cultural activities and developing the museums of the Espace pour la vie, maintaining equity and social diversity, promoting sports and overseeing sustainable and resilient approaches in Montreal.
