Wellington Place is a noteworthy example of a successfully restored culturally significant district in a rapidly evolving mixed use area in an historic area of downtown Toronto. The initiative was spearheaded by the Wellington Place Neighbourhood Association who saw these lost and neglected public spaces as a important neighbourhood asset for their changing neighbourhood. Once industrial area of the city adjacent to the railway tracks, it has become one of the cities most desirable mixed use neighbourhoods with thousands of new residents. The implementation of Wellington Place has been implemented in three phases.
