The Sève project is an urban planning vision for downtown Sudbury in 2050. This project allows us to imagine the city and its potential for urban development, as much in the reconnection of large-scale networks as in pedestrian circulation. The enhancement of the landscape, industrial and cultural heritage is the basis of this major urban project. Inspired by the Nordicity, by the re-greening actions already in place and by cultural diversity, several implementations are proposed: new housing that makes room for urban agriculture; a green and blue grid and ecological and responsible water management; energy self-sufficient buildings and circular economy; eco-systems in harmony with nature; a city that encourages active transport; responsibly sourced local materials that support the local economy; inclusive living environments; integration of biophilia in buildings; reduction of noise pollution and stress through pedestrianisation. This 30-year urban planning project, developed by both urban planners and citizen committees, will allow Sudbury's downtown to develop into a model of urban regeneration. Landscape architecture is an exceptional medium, as it addresses a broad spectrum of fields, including design, social sciences, ecology and urban planning. This project addresses the interrelationship of all these considerations to create a unique, powerful and innovative vision.
