Reader Rock Garden is a tribute to one man’s passion for plants and beauty. The Garden, created by William Roland Reader - Calgary’s most influential Parks Superintendent, is a three acre Edwardian Era Arts and Craft style rockery that dates from 1913. Historically, the Garden was viewed as one of the few significant gardens in western Canada, recognized internationally for its botanical diversity. The Garden has recently been restored by the City of Calgary using Reader’s original plans and plant lists and as a result has been designated a Provincial Historic Resource.
