The Downtown Tomorrow plan is visionary in how it link's Orillia historic core not only to the waterfront but to the larger network of environmental and recreational open spaces in the city. It also shows how institutional, residential and mixed-use development, at a scale that respects the city's heritage, can transform former industrial lands and ensure downtown has a population that will sustain commercial activity year-round. Balancing intensification are a series of public realm initiatives aimed at attracting more visitors and tourists to Orillia. While including bold ideas, the plan is also realistic, identifying projects for the short, medium and long terms that are manageable and affordable, including 20 things to do in the next 2 years.
