The Plan of Action for the Capital Region River Valley Park is a plan for a world-class metropolitan river front park that would extend from the Town of Devon, through the Counties of Leduc and Parkland, City of Edmonton, and through the Counties of Sturgeon and Strathcona to the City of Fort Saskatchewan.
EIDOS led a team of multi-disciplinary professionals that researched the environmental, hydrological, geological, historical and human elements that reflect the ‘living landscape’ of the river valley.
Building upon a previous concept plan, the team redesigned trail alignments, location of walkways and pedestrian bridges, new park areas and other amenities to maximize the preservation of the natural features within the valley and to protect environmentally sensitive areas.
The plan is based upon the principles of preservation, protection and enhancement of our river valley resource. The draft plan was divided into seven planning segments to accommodate the distinctive features and attributes of the valley. Each segment recognizes the uniqueness of its planning area and proposes actions that are appropriate for the specific locale.
