DTAH’s role was landscape design and management for this new campus for 10,000 students. The University of Ontario Institute of Technology is organized around a large central quadrangle and extends through more intimate garden courts and colonnades to the natural setting and parking. The landscape design blends the formal composition of the exterior program with sustainable design features. Roof and stormwater are directed to wet ponds, bioswales and storm ponds in a manner that demonstrates sustainable storm water design while enriching the campus landscape. Materials and furnishings extend the contemporary campus architecture of limestone, concrete, wood and metal. The planting design blends both ordered and naturalized landscape styles with a diverse selection of native materials.
