The Point Pleasant Park Comprehensive Plan breaks new ground for landscape architects on many fronts. The plan balances the latest cutting edge research in cultural resource management, forest ecology for hurricane prone landscapes (using adaptive management principles), forest aesthetic management, shoreline management with sea level rise, visual resource management, and environmental design. The challenge was developing the cutting edge research in a program that was easily understood and implementable by HRM in the short and long-term. The Comprehensive Plan process and outcomes have become a model for all urban parks in HRM and will provide a strategy to guide the parks evolution over the next 100 years.
